Things are moving right along in the shop these days.  Projects continue to be in the works.  Nothing is pretty enough yet to show you a picture or two.   I'm patiently waiting for warmer weather so I can paint a few goodies.  I'm waiting for the snow (yes we actually have snow at our house) to melt so I can take photos of the new chairs that are arriving on a weekly basis.

I am so pleased that so many of you are booking the mis-matched chairs for your celebrations.  They are going to look great and add such a wonderful touch to the party atmosphere.  So much history in one place.  Imagine if these chairs could talk.

Between shopping, painting and finalizing bookings, I have taken to rearranging the HVR boards on Pinterest.  Take a look, follow along and let me know what you like.  My favourite these days is HVR : Chalkboards.  For those of you who plan to use them at your event, take a look because there a lot of great wording ideas.

It won't be long before spring is here.  For the first time, Hazlitt Vintage Rental is going to be at the Spring Wedding Co Show at The Drake Hotel in Toronto on Saturday April 28th.  It is going to be fabulous!  Smaller displays create an intimate boutique setting for you to leisurely wander through, gather great ideas and talk to some very creative people.  Plus who doesn't love a visit to The Drake?  Hope to see you there.

A few changes to the web site that should improve your viewing pleasure and navigation.

#1 Finally a drop-down menu for the INVENTORY on the navigation bar.  Oh how I love easy navigating.

#2  Furniture has split ways.  Yes SEATING has taken on a space of its own.  A place to find couches/settees, chairs, church pews and benches.

#3 A Client Info Package that you can download.  Such fun reading details, isn't it?!

#4 Kind Words from sweet people I know and clients.  Plus tonnes of links to everywhere HVR is featured on the web.

You will notice a few new photos and a couple of other small details too.  Coming soon will be my list of preferred vendors and a listing of ideal venues for vintage celebrations.

I needed a little inspiration to get back into work since our great family vacation.  Yesterday I hit the road.  My first stop was a visit with  my upholsterer.  The damask chair is undergoing a change for the brighter.  Imagine barley linen, buttons and black painted wood.  It is going to look like it is all dressed up for a party.  Next up with an enormous, very heavy settee.  My upholsterer has come up with a way to lighten it for transport.  We picked out a nice herringbone pattern in a neutral colour for it.  So come the end of March, theses two beauties will be available.

Next stop was a favourite vintage dealer.  This time I treated myself to some linens but not before I picked out a few goodies for all of you.  It is so nice to see some colour in the collection.  Enjoy!

I must admit, I have just come from a 10 day family vacation and I have little energy to jump back into work right away.  I am rested but the thought of relaxing on vacation is just too good to turn away from just yet.

I can tell there are many brides and grooms out there who are working through their check-lists and firming up plans for their 2012 love fests!  I have a twinge of excitement (o.k. A LOT of excitement) about what is coming up this season for HVR.  So thank you for including us as part of your wedding celebration.

With Valentine's just around the corner there will be a whole new wave of engaged couples who are eager to make their dreams come true.  I am looking forward to hearing from you after the newly-engaged glow dims a bit.

Tomorrow I am going to reconnect with my upholsters guru.  The Damask Chair is finally getting a make over and a beautifully carved large settee is going to be freshened up too.  Just in time for the spring, I hope.

Also on my to-do list this month is to glue and tighten some chairs, fix up the two chandeliers I recently purchased (photos coming soon), do some shopping and plan a spring sale.  Yes, that is right.  HVR is having a spring sale.  Where?  I don't know yet.  When?  I'm  not sure.  Why?  Because I need to make room for some inventory additions.  So I am open to suggests.
