Just in time for the new year, here are some shots of the sweet things at the winter romance shoot.
It was such a pleasure to work with Ida from Sweet Sweets.

We emailed each other prior to the shoot but nothing turned out as we thought it would (this seems to usually happen).  I know the end result was even more outstanding than what we planned.  Ida gave me an idea of the number of exquisite sweets that she was bringing to the shoot.  Cake, mini-cakes, cupcakes, truffles, candy, macaroons.......

The morning of the shoot, Ida arrived with the sweets.  We took about 20 minutes to look through the shop and pull things we thought would work, loaded up the van and set to enhancing the beauty of the treats (trust me Ida’s creations could be sitting on a trash bag and still look absolutely amazing!).  We laid weathered 1 x 8 boards across a beat up table that we found on-site.  Added vintage candy jars, spineless books, a sled and an old cupboard door.

You be the judge of the end result.

I will admit it.  This is my favourite vignette from our Winter Romance shoot.  The bed in the barren field was our inspiration.  I just kept thinking about how romantic it would be to cuddle in a warm bed with my guy.  A ‘cold feet, warm heart’ kinda thing.

The Bed Vignette is comprised of the following rental pieces:

Luggage Trunk:  A perfect night stand.

Make-up Carry-on Luggage:  A sweet little piece to show off our ‘save the date’ luggage tags created by Laura K Designs.

Double Bed:  Doesn’t it look so cozy with those layers of grey flannel and fleece?  Painted in gun metal grey.

Grey and Blue Books:  Strewn across the bed and tumbling onto the ground.  I kept envisioning Katie and Eric reciting poetry to each.

Tall Candlestick: Painted in gun metal grey with a white candle.

Cigar Box and Scotch Bottle:
As SMP noted, scotch exudes thoughts of cozy winter nights.

Sewing Machine Drawer: Contains the beautiful white tulip, cedar, eggs and nest arrangement created by Luann

Today is a big day for HVR!
The winter romance shoot is posted on Style Me Pretty today.

Until the end of the year I will feature lots of pictures from the shoot on my blog; giving you glimpses into the styling and individual pieces that were pulled together to get the 'look'.

The first thing I want to do is tell you about the amazing vendors I worked with on that chilly, grey day.  I assumed I was going to be thrown into a world of mass creativity.  It went well beyond my expectations.  Besides an immense amount of talent, these people are so kind and such good souls.  It didn't feel like work at all!

Photography: A Simple Photograph
Cake and Sweets: Sweet Sweets
Make-up and styling for Katie: Sonia Ryan Make Up Artistry
Stationary: Laura K Design
Florist: Luann’s Country Flowers
Bouquets, Boutonnières,  Fascinators, Veils and Hair Pieces:Pomp and Plumage
Fashion Styling: Cabaret Vintage Toronto
Craft Services:  Mary Lynn Weaver

Thank you to all the vendors for making my first appearance on Style Me Pretty such a proud moment.  I can't wait to work with you again.

And then there is Katie & Eric.  Words are not enough to thank them for their efforts, their beauty, their love and their endurance of a cold wind.

Pop over to Erin's blog today for a look at the red sleigh in action.
You can also see more pics at Grey Likes Weddings and The Wedding Co. blogs.
Congratulations to Sarah & Brody on their engagement.

Thanks to Distinct Occasions for picking HVR as Friday's Find.
Check it out.

I've had hours and hours to think about a million little details lately.  Snowfall doesn't even begin to explain what has been going on outside my door the past 3 days!
Even my internet connection is starting to get cranky about it.

Yesterday, A Million Little Details wrote a nice post about HVR.  Check it out and spend some time on their site.  Lots of great ideas and DIY projects.

Besides the snow, I'm up to my ears in thread, buttons, fabric and cards.  You will have to come to The Wedding Show in January to see what I am talking about.  Maybe I'll give you a sneak peek in a couple of weeks.

Last night I snuggled into the Black Dog Pub in Bayfield for a glass of red wine and a visit with a friend.  When I left the pub, big snow flakes were just starting to fall and it looks like they didn't stop gently floating from the sky all night long.

It is a beautiful morning at my house.  You know the scene, the idyllic Currier and Ives winter shot along a lovely babbling brook with a bright red cardinal peeking out from the cedars.  I don't see the team of horses coming up my driveway, but you get the idea.

I slipped out to the shop and cranked up the heat.  You see this is the type of day that inspires me.  If just feels right.  Today I'm pulling together pieces for the HVR booth at The Wedding Show in January.  I can't imagine how the 6 foot by 10 foot space will turn out.  I'm hoping to create a cozy space where you can put your feet up for a few minutes and tell me about your vintage dreams!

Anyone out there want to share those dreams?
