The Q2 train operation diagram has been implemented for national railways from April 10. After the operation diagram adjustment, the national railways' passenger transportation capacity has been improved and the freight capacity structure has been further optimized, which can better meet the market demand for passenger and freight transportation.
While doing a good job in the prevention and control of the epidemic, the railway sector, by giving full play to the decisive role of the market in the allocation of transport resources, has made adjustments with this new operation diagram to meet the travel needs of passengers and the needs of economic and social development. The main changes in the new operation diagram are as follows: First, the national railways' passenger transport capacity has been further improved. After the operation diagram adjustment, there are 4,970.5 pairs of passenger trains running on railways nationwide, an increase of 130.5 pairs over the current diagram, bringing new increase to transportation capacity. Second, the transport capacity of Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR has been further improved. Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR, Zhangjiakou-Hohhot HSR, Zhangjiakou-Datong HSR and Chongli Railway have become popular with travelers since they were open on December 30, 2019 and have strong market demand. This operation diagram adjustment has increased the number of trains running on these HSRs, with 44 pairs allocated for routine services, additional 7 pairs for weekend services and additional 19 pairs for peak services. The transportation capacity has been greatly improved compared with that before the adjustment. Third, the "Sichuan-Chongqing-Guizhou" inter-provincial ring line EMU trains have been put into operation. Giving full play to the ring network formed by Chengdu-Chongqing HSR, Chongqing-Guiyang Railway and Chengdu-Guiyang HSR, for the first time three pairs of "Sichuan-Chongqing-Guizhou" inter-provincial ring line EMU trains have been put into operation in Chengdu, Chongqing and Guiyang. These trains running through the whole journey for about 8 hours via. Zunyi, Qijiang, Yongchuan, Rongchang, Neijiang, Ziyang, Meishan, Leshan, Yibin and Bijie will further strengthen the traffic connection among "two provinces and one city" in Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou, thus greatly facilitating the travel of people along the ring line. Fourth, the number of through EMU trains between Chengdu to Chongqing has been increased. The number of through EMU trains running between the two cities has increased from one pair to three pairs. Fifth, the operation structure of freight trains has been optimized. In response to changes in market demand, 2 CRE trains, 1 fast train for intermodal transport and 1 fast freight train have been allocated additionally, while the number of conventional speed trains has been decreased. After the operation diagram adjustment, there will be 191 through freight trains running across CR regional groups in operation nationwide, an increase of 2 trains over the current diagram.
