According to the official of the passenger transport department in CHINA RAILWAY, the application of e-tickets is a strong measure taken by the railway sector to further improve the passenger transport quality under the people-oriented development principle. It is also an important achievement to continuously improve the travel experience of passengers by means of information and intelligent technologies. The e-ticket was first piloted in Hainan Island-looping HSR from November 2018, then expanded to four high-speed intercity railways from Shanghai to Nanjing, Chengdu to Chongqing, Guangzhou to Zhuhai (Zhanjiang West) and Kunming to Dali to Lijiang in July 2019, and widely implemented in HSRs and intercity railways across the country after the fourth quarter of 2019. In the travel rush of the Spring Festival and summer vacation, short public holidays and Golden Week holidays, the popularized e-ticket systems have shown excellent safety and stability and provided passengers with good experiences. Especially during the epidemic prevention and control period, the advantages of e-ticket in self-service ticket refund and change, contactless check-in/out, on-line purchasing of work-returning group ticket have been fully demonstrated. Since the pilot in Hainan Island-looping HSR, 736 million e-tickets have been sold in railways across the country.

The official said that based on the rich technical reserves and practical experiences accumulated in the early application of e-tickets, CHINA RAILWAY had organized professionals to make thorough preparations for the application of e-tickets on Lanzhou-Urumqi HSR, and the railway is now ready for application.

The railway sector reminds that passengers may visit 12306 website and read the related announcements at stations for more details about the e-ticket.
