Railway Sector Makes All Efforts to Ensure Passengers' Safe and Smooth Return Trips

  On May 5, the last day of May Day Holiday, the national railways saw the peak of returned passengers. While continuously guaranteeing the epidemic prevention and control, the railway sector has allocated 421 additional passenger trains to ensure the safe and smooth return of passengers.

  During the May Day Holiday, facing travel peaks occurred everywhere, the railway transportation had remained safe, stable and orderly. On May 1, 7.37 million trips were made by railway across the country, setting a new high in daily passenger traffic after the Spring Festival. From May 2 to 4, 4.91 million, 5.025 million and 5.142 million trips were made on national railways respectively.

  Railway units in all parts of the country had allocated transport resources accurately according to passenger flow dynamics. They had implemented various service measures for the convenience and benefit of the people, helping passengers to travel safely, conveniently and comfortably.

  China Railway Shenyang Group Co., Ltd. added 16 EMU trains heading to Beijing and operated 75 coupled EMU trains. China Railway Taiyuan Group Co., Ltd. additionally operated EMU trains from Taiyuan South Station to Yongji North Station that pass through many popular tourist counties and cities. China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd. resumed the operation of all inter-city EMU trains and conventional-speed trains under its administration. China Railway Jinan Group Co., Ltd. resumed 102 trains heading to Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and other destinations, increasing the capacity of more than 60,000 seats. China Railway Nanchang Group Co., Ltd. allocated 64 additional "holiday EMU trains" at stations in key tourist cities.

  China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd. operated 95 return-trip short-distance EMU trains from Leshan Station to Chengdu East Station, Zunyi Station to Guiyang North Station and other popular scenic spots. China Railway Kunming Group Co., Ltd. operated additional EMU trains from Kunming South Station to Chengdu East Station, Shenzhen North Station and sleeper EMU trains from Kunming to Beijing. China Railway Lanzhou Group Co., Ltd. resumed the operation of EMU trains from Lanzhou West Station to Beijing West Station, and operated coupled EMU trains heading for Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hangzhou. China Railway Urumqi Group Co., Ltd. operated 20 trains from Urumqi to Hami, Korla and Yining. China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co., Ltd. added temporary passenger trains from Xining to Golmud, Xining to Lhasa, Lhasa to Xigaze, etc.

  China Railway Beijing Group Co., Ltd. strengthened the patrol inspection of equipment and facilities in major stations. China Railway Xi'an Group Co., Ltd. set up a special ticket window for students in Xi'an Station to serve students returning to school. China Railway Nanning Group Co., Ltd. added 9 temporary ID card self-service printers at stations with large passenger flows. China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. opened more entrance and exit passages at popular stations with large passenger flow, and increased guidance staff in key areas to ensure smooth and orderly check in and out of passengers.

  During the holidays, following the requirements for regular epidemic prevention and control, the railway sector had coordinated on the epidemic prevention and control at stations and on trains and the guarantee of railway transportation services. It had strictly implemented measures such as temperature taking, ventilation and disinfection of stations and trains, and setting up of emergency isolation seats, so as to fully safeguard the health and safety of the passengers and railway workers.
