On April 7, Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR (Hefei-Huzhou section) began integrated commissioning & test, laying the foundation for its opening to traffic.
With a design speed of 350km/h, Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR is an important component of Beijing-Hong Kong (Taiwan) corridor and Beijing-Shanghai corridor in China's HSR network of "eight north-south lines and eight east-west lines". Its construction was commenced in November 2015, and the northern section, namely the 378km Shangqiu-Hefei section, has been completed and put into operation on December 1, 2019. The southern section (i.e. the Hefei-Huzhou section under integrated commissioning & test) is about 311km long totally. The section starts from Hefei City in Anhui Province in the north, passes through Hanshan County (Maanshan City), Wuhu City and Xuancheng City in Anhui Province in the south, connects to Nanjing-Hangzhou HSR in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and finally reaches Hangzhou City in Zhejiang. Upon completion and putting into operation of the Hefei-Huzhou section, Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR will fully open to traffic.
Since the beginning of this year, especially to overcome the impact of the epidemic, the railway sector has thoroughly implemented the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, both focusing on the epidemic prevention and control and the project construction. It has coordinated all construction participants on implementing the epidemic prevention and control requirements, and also optimized the construction organization to accelerate the project construction. With the hard work of more than 10,000 railway builders, the earthwork, bridges, tunnels, main line track-laying, station buildings and communication, signal, power and electrification works in Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR (Hefei-Huzhou section) have been basically completed, making the conditions available for integrated commissioning & test.
In order to ensure the safe and stable operation of EMU trains, the integrated commissioning & test shall be conducted including strict tests and equipment adjustment & optimization before the HSR is put into operation. Through the dynamic inspection made by a comprehensive inspection train, the system performance of track, power supply, OCS, communication, signaling, early warning, monitoring and other systems can be verified in the integrated commissioning & test, so as to ensure the performance of each system and the overall system performance meet the design requirements. After the integrated commissioning & test, Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR (Hefei-Huzhou section) will be put into trial operation, which will make it ready for opening to traffic upon acceptance.
The northern end of Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR (Hefei-Huzhou section) connects to Hefei-Bengbu HSR, Hefei-Wuhan HSR, Beijing-Hong Kong HSR corridor, Hefei-Nanjing HSR and Hefei-Fuzhou HSR in Hefei. The southern end connects to Nanjing-Hangzhou HSR, Shanghai-Kunming HSR, Hangzhou-Ningbo HSR and Hangzhou-Huangshan HSR in Huzhou. Upon opening to traffic of the entire Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR, it will further improve the express railway passenger transport network in the central and eastern China, relieve the tensioned passenger transport capacity of Beijing-Shanghai HSR, facilitate people's travel along the railways, and play a very important role in promoting the regional integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
